Stand by you

Dear Peter,

        How are you? I’m sorry to hear that your father has passed away. It’s really a piece of bad news. I’m sure that it must be a great shock to your family, am I right? I ‘see’ our vulnerable heart. As your best friend, I’m willing to shoulder your burden. Be brave! You shouldn’t give up your study though you need to take up the responsibility for operating the dry cleaning shop. You should pluck up courage and jump over such a hardship. I’ll stand by  you!

        ‘I will be a doctor and help all the patients to fight against their sickness!’ I still remember you said these words passionately when we are in  form five. Peter, accomplish your goal! I realize that facing the hard reality is easier said than done. Yet, I don’t want to see you to get astray. Frankly speaking, I strongly oppose your attempt to end up your study. You have a brilliant academic result and you desire to further your study, aren’t you?

        Moreover, the world develops in leaps and bounds. Now, the economy in the world is deteriorating. Unemployment rate surges continuously. We are required to keep abreast of our time to raise our competitiveness. Now, you are the bread-winner of your family. In order to earn a living and have a better future prospect, you should well equip yourself. Furthering your study is also a path to success. You can develop intellectual mind via education. Moreover, knowledge can wipe out illiteracy. School life offers you a colorful life. You can enlarge your social circle by making friends. Furthermore, most of the employers require their employee to have a certificate of degree. After education, it is much easier for you to find a career to support your family. In addition, you are a diligent person and you will do revision spontaneously. Boy! You are absolutely suitable for study.

        Besides, you need to improve your language proficiency. It is prevalent that most of the recruitment advertisements require applicants to have a good command of spoken and written English. If you have stunningly well communication skills, it can facilitate business transactions as you may do business with foreigners. Enriching your knowledge can boost your competitiveness. Hence, you can survive in this competitive world.

        You are worrying about the dry cleaning shop on a part-time basis while helping your mother out in the shop? Maybe you will feel suffocated since you are loaded with intense pressure. You need to sacrifice some of your marvelous school life and can’t take part in  too much extra-curricular activities. You will have a hectic schedule and feel taxing and grueling. Maybe it is too harsh for you to dear all these burden. But, you can think in an optimistic way. The challenges and difficulties you needed to encounter are the impetus for you to work hard. You are always my light house in the sea. Whenever I come across any thorny difficulties, you comfort me and say that escaping from reality is a coward act. Now, you should have no empty talk. You can have good time management and fully utilise you time by allocating time well between study and help out in the shop. After finishing the lectures at school, you can go straight to the shop. In  the evening, you can finish your assignments and revise what you have learned at school.

        For your mother, I think you can assist her by doing some housework for her. You should be courteous and set a good model for your younger sisters. Every cloud has a silver lining. Although you have numerous tasks to do, you shouldn’t neglect your health. You shouldn’t be upset. I’m available for you whenever you want. I still want to see you wearing a smile on your face.
