Rebel ---Nicholas Tse

On March 23, the Canto pop star Nicholas Tse Ting-fung’s black Ferrari F360 Modena crashed on Cotton Tree Drive in downtown Hong Kong. Only  the railings were damaged in this accident and no one was hurt. However, he left the (2) scene  and allowed his former chauffeur Shing Kwok-ting to stand as the crash driver. Now, Tse was remanded in custody in Pik Uk Correctional Institution after being found guilty along with police constable Lau Chi-wai of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. In this essay, I will state what other pop stars and youngsters can learn from Tse’s case.

Undoubtedly, Nicholas is a talent in the field of music and is the top star of our generation. He has attracted mountains of fans who always follow him whenever and wherever he goes. On the stage, he is a “hero” of his fans. However, Nicholas always misbehaves and rebels against the convention. He smokes heavily, swears at reporters and the like. All these misconducts can show that he is rude. Again, he brought his dead pet hedgehog and with a coke in his hand into the court. It is clear that he was far from mature. He was childish in thinking his  dead pet, even he was facing his trial. Besides, his holding a coke in his hand showed to the public that he is always the spokesperson of coke. In the accident, it is actually 01not a serious matter. He would at most have lost a few points and paid for the damage of the railing. Maybe he could be disqualified to drive a car due to reckless driving. Yet, he chose to leave at once and found Shing Kwok-ting as the stand-in driver. He didn’t think that he should be  responsible for this accident. Being an adult, Tse should bear the consequence of his act. Sending him to prison is surely a good means  to let him learn to be responsible. Otherwise, he will commit the same crime again and again.

Other singers and actors should learn  from Nicholas Tse’s case. Many of them often ignore the traffic regulations and drive the car very fast in order to get a moment of excitement. It is dangerous to speed.  It  endangers the life of his/her own as well as the public. They even have the habit of smoking cannabis. It is actually an act of  self-destruction. They do not find themselves wrong and just do what they like as they are celebrities. Actually, no matter if they are celebrities or not, they will still be kept in prison if they break the law. Just like the case of William So Wing Hon and Anya a few months ago in Taiwan. Thus, they should behave well and should set a good model to the youngsters who always like to imitate them.

Besides, youngsters should learn a lesson from Nicholas Tse. They should learn to be responsible. Whenever they have done anything wrong, they should bear the consequence themselves and pluck up their courage to admit their fault. They should not escape from it, like Tse Ting-fung. Honesty is the best policy. Moreover, they should distinguish between right and wrong.  Swapping drivers is wrong. Nicholas Tse has to send to prison. Even though they adore Nicholas  blindly and should not think that all the things done by Nicholas  are correct. From the case of Nicholas, they cannot escape from punishment if they commit a crime. They have to pay a bitter price. Parents and teachers should grasp this chance to let them know the importance of obeying the law. Youngsters should be taught to be an honest and responsible person at their early age. It can avoid another “Tse Ting-fung” to appear.

All in all, I do hope that Tse Ting-fung can finally realize that he had done something wrong. More importantly, he can learn to be mature and be responsible for what he has done. If he changes his behaviour, I am sure that the public will forgive him and he can still have a brilliant future .
