Your school principal is tried of hearing student say that they are bored, and has asked you, as head prefect, to give a talk on this topic in the morning assembly. You should write a speech analyzing why this is such a frequent complaint, and make suggestions as to what can be done to avoid boredom.
Are you satisfied with your school life ? Are your lives interesting and exciting? It has long been believed that the teens should be the happiest time, as teenagers need not shoulder many responsibilities. Yet, it changes. Nowadays, many students always claim that their lives are extremely tedious. Every day, they repeat their stereotyped lifestyle― going to school, doing homework, revising for tests and examinations¡K¡K To them, life equates with dull and colorless. It seems students have to fall victim to this curse forever and can hardly escape from it. Is it really true? Today, as a head prefect, I am going to examine the reasons for students being bored and suggest some ways to avoid boredom.
The spoon-feeding education system in Hong Kong is surly the prime factor leading students to feel bored. Since struggling for results with flying colors is regarded as the only road to success, students are forced to cloister themselves away to study round the clock. Moreover, the competition in job markets is keen. It is believed that only with an iron determination to work hard, students can become an elite and the cream of society. Thus, they have to do tonnes of examination drills and exercises, as they believe that practice makes prefect. Some students may even have to attend tutorial classes after school. How can they have time to relax and do something that they really interested in? Under the shadow of the education system, the lives of students are bored.
Moreover, parents usually have high expectation on their children. They want their children to receive ¡¥rounded¡¦ education. This can raise the competitiveness of children and they can outshine others in the job hunt. Those parents arrange many activities for their children, without taking into accounts of their children¡¦s real interest. They just think they can master the future of children and all those activities can help them cultivate useful skills, other than academic studies. Thus, the schedules of students are always full for the whole week. They rarely have some free time to do what they really want and have to strictly follow the ¡¥standard life¡¦. How boring it is! In fact, they can just work to fulfil their parents¡¦ ambition. Without considering their real ability, parents force their children to reach the unreachable stars. Students can hardly squeeze a single minute to relax, and are have to deal with the humdrum chores. That is the reasons for their dull lives.
Besides, lacking of parental care may also make students feeling dull. It is not uncommon to hear that both parents in a family have to go to work, so as to earn a living and shoulder the financial burden. As they just concentrate on their jobs and always have to work overnight, they may neglect the feeling of their children. Even if they can go back home earlier, they are exhausted, what they really want to do is to go to bed, but not have a chat with their children. Since many youngsters are the only child in a family and can find no one to talk and play with. They feel they are isolated and lonely. Thus, they complain about their tedious lives In light of the problem, parents should not have such myopic attitude to confine their children to studying only. This will not just make their children have tunnel vision, but also make their lives become colorless. A warm smile can be hardly seen wearing on students¡¦ face. Actually, parents and teachers should be in concert with each other. They should not put too much emphasis on examination, but encourage youngsters to take part in the extra-curricular activities they like, such as, playing drama, basketball, chess and the like. Those activities are really wholesome to us and can add colors to their lives. More importantly, they can enlarge their social circle and make more friends, which is an important element in the path of becoming a grown-up. Our lives will be more interesting and colorful. Besides, communication is the best solution to problem. If we really do not like the courses arranged by parents, we may tell the truth to them and they will understand our situation. It is much better than just do the boring work on our own and it will be a hard nut for us.
To conclude, the growth of youngsters should be full of laughter instead of just filling with depression. Thus, it is important to strike a balance between work and play; otherwise, we will only be buried by boredom. Let¡¦s seek for a happier life!
