~ In this essay, I am going to discuss the society portrays in this movie

~ The South is under the class society before the Civil War

~ Parties are held and proper manner should be maintained

~ For the gentlemen, pride fulfills their heads

~ But they are far worse than the Northerners in all fields, except their pride

~ Before the Civil War the class society notion is rigid. After the civil war, their status is degraded

~ But their pride still remains

~ The Southerners are still proud after the war

~ The northerners destroyed the south and impose heavy tax on the southerners

~ All these show the negative viewpoint towards the North

~ Although they live harshly, the southerners are still proud of their well manner

~ The job of a gentleman is to protect the women. The pride is greatly shown.

~ Private punishment has adopted by the southerners for a long time

~ The image of a class society is obviously shown, with the pride and arrogance of the southerners

~ Gone With the Wind describes a harmonious relation between the slaves and the masters

~ Black Belly dare to shout at Scarlett but still gets respect

~ Even in the wartime, Scarlett also cares about her black servants

~ As Ashley says, they will not treat the slaves too harsh, but the prisoners will suffer greatly if they are hired to work in factories

~ Gone With the Wind tries to portray a class society with southerners¡¦ pride. But the southerners are so wise and kind that they know how to use their power properly

~ So the class society portrayed is very complicated.

~ Gone With the Wind portraits the society of the South before and after the US Civil War

~ On the one hand, it shows the brutality of the Yankees. On the other hand, it also condemns the pride of the southerners

~ But overal, the movie praises the south as it treats the Blacks

~The class society is greatly described but it is warm

~ I believe that success of Gone With the Wind is largely due to the great description on that sophisticated society!
