Set  2   Drama

Our drama club will run a drama about families. As we are the members of the drama club, we have been asked to give  some ideas of the drama club. In this discussion, we will discuss the plot of the drama, such as the problems that families face, how children may be affected by the problems; also how we will present the drama.

First of all, I’d like to talk about the story-line of the drama. We can present some typical problems that most families face nowadays, e.g., lack of communication among the family members. Nowadays, there are many working parents than before because they want to earn money so as to have a better living standard. Therefore, they leave their children and even their elderly parents at home. They only spare less time with them. Moreover, because of partner’s bad temper, they only blame and get angry when their children talk to them. Children do not want to talk to them anymore because they think that they have a generation gap. They prefer to go along with their friends than their parents. On the other hand, some parents always overstress to their children, e.g., about their children’s academic results. Children may not balance between their leisure time and study under the pressure from their parents.

The other problem is marriage affairs. Some parents may divorce because they think they do not love each other, or the father has a ‘second wife’ in Mainland. Many argue can be found between father and mother and even the father may beat the mother or children. These broken relationships may cast a shadow to their next generation. Their children may feel inferior as they think they come from broken family. As a result, they lose all of their confidence in doing anything.

Let’s talk about how we present the story. We can ask the senior form students to act the father and the mother, and ask a junior student to act the son. They can present the problem that we had just talked about---lack of communication, marriage affair. Owing to the bad relationship in the family, his father and mother complain against each other every day. The son leaves his home and then comes acrosss some bad guys. They always stay at electronic games center and department store. At last, he meets a social worker. Through the guidance of the social worker, he tries to talk to his mother, and also his father. As we want to transmit a positive concept to our audience, I suggest having a happy ending. Parents think they had done wrong, so that they want to rebuild their relationship. That is the end of the story.

This drama is good for the audience. On the one hand, they can find out the solution in the drama. On the other hand, they can improve the relationship within the family members. I do hope our drama will be successful!
