The theme of the fashion show should be environmental protection. We intend to send the message of protecting the endangered species. It is because people currently kill some endangered species for their fur and skin to make various luxurious products. Though students will not buy fur to wear, we can convey the sense of animal protection. We can promote this idea to students by a fashion show.
We can hold a design competition for the fashion show. We can ask students to form groups to compete against one another. They should design their own fashion and have their own student models to display their design using the catwalk mode of performance. We can encourage them to use environmental friendly materials for their clothes, for instance, used plastic bags, read newspapers, tin cans and any other waste. It is cheap and can be able to recycle the waste. They can also bring their own materials from their homes. On top of that, we can make use of the old cloth from the Home Economics Club.
The show should be held in the school hall since it is large enough to accommodate many audiences on the open day. We will invite both the students and the public to attend the show, so the number of audiences will be large. We can have some spotlights and lovely music in order to build up a fashion show atmosphere. The show can be held in the afternoon and the school day should be cancelled for the sake of the performers’ rehearsal.
We should invite some fashion professionals to attend our fashion show. They can be the adjudicators of the competition. In addition, the competition will be fair as they have the professional knowledge. They can give comments to the fashion shows and the students’ work so that we can learn a lot for the fashion design. We can invite Lau Pui Kee as he is a top designer.
