Discussion 1998 Set 1

An airline is holding a competition with a prize of free return tickets for a group of four students to visit an overseas destination. In order to win, we have discussed to make a proposal for a holiday destination. In this report, I¡¦ll examine the places that we choose.

Greece is a good place! Since there are a lot of ancient culture, we can know more about the ancient  Europeans history. For example, we can visit museums there. Besides, we don¡¦t need to worry about the communication problem because the people there still can speak English to communicate with one another. We can experience the routine life there.

Singapore is still a quiet good place for the proposal. Since Hong Kong¡¦s students are always compared with those in Singapore, we can have a chance to know more about the Singaporean students if we visit there. The education system, the school life, the behaviour of students is interesting. In Singapore, we can use a series of spoken language to communicate with one another, for example, Chinese, English, Putonghua, so on and so forth.

Tokyo is also suggested but it is not good for the proposal. There are lot of delicious foods in Japan, for example, suisi and sashimi. There are a lot of electronic controlled mechanic games. However, it is very difficult for us to communicate with the people there because not everyone in Japan can speak English. It is also not feasible for us to learn Japanese before the trip.

Beijing is also  a place that is suitable for the proposal. Great Wall is famous over the world. Since it is the capital of our home country, it is easy to communicate with the people there. We can enjoy the snow that we cannot enjoy in Hong Kong even in winter. Besides, it is not far away from Hong Kong.
