UE97 Set 4

Let¡¦s gets started. Our former student wants to donate about eight thousand dollars for the benefit of students in secondary six and seven. In this discussion, we will talk about what kind of equipment that students would enjoy using, how equipment would be used, and how to maintain them.

We first to install overhead projector. As there are a lot of resources for the academic use, students may not find all resources themselves, such as, the up-dated information from newspaper, exercises from other reference books. Owing to difficulty to look for information, teachers can find the information for them and make a summary for students. It is a conducive for teachers to make a transparency and show it via the overhead projector on a screen to students. On the one hand, transparency is easy to keep and store for the future use. On the other hand, students do not need to search for the information themselves so that time is saved. They can spare more time to complete other tasks. Moreover, the information is accurate because teachers will filter them. I think this is conducive to students.

Our budget is about eight thousand dollars. As we know, there are four classes in form six and seven. One projector costs about two thousand dollars. I think we can buy four for each class, and this arrangement fits the budget. Apart from the budget, I¡¦d like to talk about how to keep the projector well. In my opinion, we can set it on a trolley. When we do not use it, we put it in the corner. Moreover, we also need to buy a plastic bag to cover it up when it is not in use.

Alternatively, we can install lockers. As we all know, most students who are in the senior form need to bring many books to school, and their books are very thick and heavy. There are not adequate lockers for them. I suggest installing some new lockers for form six and form seven students. If they have their own lockers, they can leave their books in school without worrying about stolen by naughty students. Moreover, senior form students will not any excuses that they forget to bring their thick test books to the lessons. For the long term, it solves the problems of having a heavy school bag all the time..

If we buy lockers, I¡¦d like to talk about the budget about the lockers. We assume that all form six and form seven students have their own lockers. So we need 120 lockers. They cost between four thousand and five thousand dollars. Besides, lockers can be used over a very long period of time, a good maintenance is necessary. We should ask them not write their names or stick some stickers on lockers as they are not their assets. Moreover, pictures and posters also are not allowed to stick on lockers. Furthermore, locker owners have their own keys. They are not allowed to share their lockers with others. In addition, I suggest the location of lockers should be on the second and the third floor as the classrooms of six and seven are located on these floors.

All in all, installing new equipment is conducive to students. But the price of some equipment may be high . If the cost of the equipment is over the budget, we will ask the Parent Teacher Association for subsidy, or ask students to pay partially of the cost of the equipment.
