Who should be invited to talk at the seminar

        A government official should be invited.  He can talk about the reasons for legalising soccer betting.  A number of people oppose  the idea of legalising soccer betting since they think that more and more people will be indulged in betting.  It will bring many social problems as well as economic problems.  However, the SAR government insists on legalizing soccer betting.  Some students may not know the reasons for it.  Inviting a government official to our seminar can give a view of the government.  He will talk about the merits of legalising soccer betting.  It can increase the revenue of  Hong Kong and gives one more kind of entertainment to people.  As a Hong Kong citizen, students are required to know about the reasons for  the government to implement this policy.

        Apart from a government official, we can also invite people who have soccer betting regularly.  They may talk about the reasons for enjoying the soccer betting so much and the amount of money they spend on betting each month.  Most of the people think that they can get a sense of excitement while watching the matches.  It is because they can only know which team will win until the end of the match.  The performance of each football player can affect the result of the match.  After winning the money, they will get a sense of satisfaction.  Some people may spend half of the income on soccer betting as they are already addicted to it.  By listening to them, students will know why there is an interesting trend on soccer betting and the problems of people who are addicted to it.

        Moreover, it is a sound idea to invite a psychologist to our seminar.  They may talk about the adverse effects of soccer betting on people.  Those people who are addicted to soccer betting usually have an emotional problem.  They lose temper  easily and thus their family relationship is poorer.  Some even just devote all their time to soccer betting and ignore their study or work.  It seriously affects their lifestyle.  Some gamblers may lose all their savings on betting and need to borrow money from the others.  Soccer betting can bring adverse effects to people.

        All in all, students can fully informed about soccer betting.  They can know the merits and demerits of soccer betting.  After the seminar, they can express the own opinions on soccer betting in our questionnaires.

Questions I would like to include in the questionnaires

  The questions should be in a form of multiple choice as students do not need to spend a lot of time on doing it.  In the questionnaire, we can include the questions to ask whether the student understand advantages and the disadvantages of the football betting or not. Then we can include the questions asking  them whether they will bet the football or not. If so, how much will they  spend on the footing betting? We provide three  answers which are under a hundred dollars, a hundred dollars to two hundreds dollars and more than two hundreds dollars. Then we can ask them the frequency  they will bet and provide three answers to choose: once a month, two to five times a month and more than five times a month. Then we can ask them what are their stance about the legal football gambling and provide three answers for them to choose: Support, neutral and oppose. At last, we can ask them what  they think about the legal football betting and leave a few lines for them to write the answers.
