Letter of complaint
27 April 94
Dear John,
Thank you for your letter dated 25 April 94, complaining about the insufficient number of students in the production team, the quality of photographs, and the inclusion of two uninteresting articles. Your complaint against the first item is justified; but the other two are unjustified.
We apologize for the delay of the publication of the magazine for a month. At first, we scheduled the first edition to be published in February, but it came in print in mid-March due to insufficient editors. Many students did not have time to take part in the production process. Since we sat for our first term examination in January, students were busy preparing for the examination; they did not have time to hold interviews or write articles for the magazine. In addition, the students who involved in the production of the first edition were only the committee members of the English Club; we need the help of our schoolmates in various forms. Anyway, we have gained valuable experience from the publication of the first edition. Now, we are busy working for the second edition, and we have recruited new editors. Why don' t you give us a hand and join our team?
In fact, the quality of photographs was good. The photography club provided all the photographs for the magazine, and they were taken according to the theme of the articles: politics and mountain climbing. The advisor of the club, Mr. Chung, had inspected all the photographs. Actually, I am not clear about which photographs you are referring to. Can you give me more details?

The two articles on politics and mountain climbing are interesting. In fact, many students care about the future of Hong Kong. Since the year 1997 is approaching, we are concerned about the Special Administrative Region of China. Will Hong Kong have democracy after 1997? Schoolmates definitely are interested in having more information about political groups in Hong Kong. Therefore, the article `The Future Politics of Hong Kong' was praised by the majority of students. We distributed five hundred questionnaires, and received back three hundred and seventy six; out of 376, 278 students indicated that they liked the article. Some even wrote down they wanted to know more about the targets of each political group. As most S.6 and S.7 students are over 18, they can become voters. They have to get more information before casting a vote.
As far as the article about mountain climbing is concerned, schoolmates are interested in exciting sports. Mountain climbing is one of their choices. We know that students do not have much information about mountain climbing; therefore, we introduced the sport that is fresh and fashionable to our readers. Based on the questionnaires received, 236 respondents showed they liked the articles.
John, We need your support! Come to join our production team!!
