Doctor's work place
Should the government intervene to decide the place of work of newly-qualified doctors? Some hold the view that doctors have their own freedom to choose their working place, whereas others claim that considerate government intervention is desirable. This controversial issue draws public attention.
Doctors should have their freedom to choose their own work place. They have their freedom. Choosing their preferable work place is just their natural human right. Thus, doctors who prefer to work in private hospitals to government ones are acceptable. How could the government violate such basic human rights of doctors?
Moreover, doctors possess their own rights of choosing their place of work. Some doctors prefer to work in private hospitals because of higher salary, greater mobility, and larger flexibility. They dislike the fixed and controlled routine work in government hospitals. Therefore, making their own decision is reasonable. How could the government offend their rights?
Actually, government intervention is urgent and necessary because of the inadequate doctors in government hospitals. However, there are still a large amount of patients demanding medical treatment. As a result, these suffering patients have to queue up for a long period of time. How can the patients with serious illness wait without proper treatment promptly? Therefore, government should ensure ample doctors for prompt surgery in government hospitals. Otherwise, those urgently need medical treatment are suffered. Could they aim at achieving the great mission of saving patients who are in the verge of `death'!
Since medical services are basic necessities of people in society, the government should intervene in allocating the newly-qualified doctors. Being the leader of society, the government does have the absolute authority to ensure a good functioning of medical services. Thus, its role of balancing the job allocation of doctors to either private or government hospitals is desirable and meaningful. Could the government just give a free hand?
Freedom, undeniably, is the basic human right of the doctors. However, defending their freedom to earn more - such a narrow scope of view! Do they consider the suffering patients? It's time the government intervened in deciding the working place of newly-qualified doctors instead of giving just a `free' and `loose' hand! Love to badly-needed medical treatment's patients are precious. Let's give their blessing to the suffering patients!
